Clinical case 1 Distal radial deformity

Pathology: distal radial deformity and torsion, resulting in permanent lameness

Patient: female Pinscher, 16 months, 5kg

Treatment: correction of the angular bone deformity by an oblique osteotomy to correct the deformity in all three planes. Fixation with a patient-specific osteosynthesis system.

Cysware® 4V

  • Calculation of CORA and cutting plans on Cysware®.

    Planning of the surgery in 3D thanks to the Cysware® software which calculates the position and orientation of the cutting plane, as well as the correction angle (22°) allowing to correct the deformation.

  • Implant and instrument generation on Cysware®. 3D printed implants and instruments.

    Individual and automated anatomical design of implants and surgical guides (for cutting, drilling, aligning the bone) by Cysware® software. 3D printing (additive manufacturing) in titanium alloy (implants) and polymer (guides), both of human medical grade.

  • Use of Cysart® during surgery.

    The surgeon is guided by the HoloLens2 system associated with the Cysart® application. It allows surgical assistance during the operation by manipulation of holograms, in mixed reality. The use of surgical guides for cutting, drilling and reducing deformed bone ensures a quick and precise surgical procedure. The customised plate is positioned on the bone.

Post-operative assessment: finally, it is considered that the angular correction is satisfactory with regard to the planning. Two months after the operation, consolidation is underway, the lameness is completely stopped and the implant is perfectly tolerated by the animal.

Clinical case 2 Distal femoral deformity

Pathology: Distal femoral deformity, above the knee, resulting in permanent lameness associated with patella luxation. This deformity can be quantified by comparing the aLDFA angle of the deformed bone (122°) with the reference angle for the same type of dog (98°).

Patient: female Crossbreed Spanish Mastiff, 23 months, 31 kg.

Treatment: correction of the angular bone deformity by cutting a wedge of bone (closed angle osteotomy) to correct the axis of the bone and then fixing it with a patient-specific osteosynthesis system (screw and plate).
